Three new COVID-19 related benefits came into effect today. As previously announced in late August the Canadian government has successfully had Bill C-4 passed through the Senate.
All new benefits are available through your CRA account.
Cdn. Recovery Benefit (CRB) for gig workers and others who don’t qualify for EI. The CRB provides $500 per for up to 26 weeks who have stopped working or had their income reduced by at least 50% due to COVID-19.

Cdn Recovery Sickness Benefit (CRSB) for those who are
– Unable to work 50% of the week because they have COVID-19;
– Must self isolate for reasons related to COVID-19
– Have underlying symptoms that in the opinion of a person of authority, including THE EMPLOYER would make them more susceptible to COVID-19.

Cdn Recovery Caregiving Benefit (CRCB) for workers:
– Unable to work for at least 50% of the week because they must care for a child under 12 or family member because schools, day-cares or care facilities are closed due to COVID-19
-The child or family member is sick and/or required to quarantine or is at high risk of serious health implications.
