CEWS Application Date Announced

The previously announced Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy also known as CEWS that is designed to help employers rehire and/or keep existing employees will be made available next week.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this morning that applications for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) will open Monday, April 27.

The government has also launched a calculator that is set to allow eligible businesses to understand the amount they would be able to claim under the emergency wage subsidy program. Businesses will be able to apply to the CEWS on Monday through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), which is administering the program on behalf of the Government of Canada. It has been said that 90% of applications filed will be processed by May 5th, with direct deposits coming shortly after.

The new website includes detailed information and instructions about who can apply for the subsidy, how eligibility is assessed, and how the subsidy is calculated. The calculator also includes a printable statement feature that employers can use to view their claim at a glance and, as of April 27, enter the required information into the CEWS application form quickly and easily.

To find out if your business is eligible for the 75% wage subsidy and to get your numbers in order prior to April 27th visit the dedicated website here
