New statutory holiday confirmed for Fall 2021

By June 7, 2021Employees, Employers
A bill creating a statutory holiday to commemorate the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada received royal assent last week.  The bill creates a statutory holiday to occur annually on September 30th for employees in the federal government and federally regulated workplaces.
Similar to Remembrance Day, Truth and Reconciliation Day creates an opportunity to educate and remind Canadians about the history of residential schools, honour the victims and celebrate the survivors.
